At the end of November, the prestigious competition Young Fashion Designer of the Czech Republic took place in Jihlava. Since 1998, this event has been regularly bringing together talented students from Czech and international secondary schools specializing in fashion and textile design. The competition is traditionally a platform where young designers showcase their skills and creativity, and this year it welcomed participants from Slovakia, Germany, and Austria.
The Secondary Art School Jihlava–Helenín, which has long cooperated with the Czech Association for Textile Care, achieved great success at the competition. Students from the field of Fashion Design and Accessories won the Jury Prize and took 2nd place in the Headwear category. Additionally, they secured several fourth places. Students from the field of Interior Design and Home Accessories also played a significant role in the school’s success by preparing the creative stage for the entire event.
Photos from the event capture the unique atmosphere where students presented their creations themselves and competed with their peers in a friendly spirit. This extraordinary experience affirms that the competition is not only a showcase of talent but also an important step toward the professional careers of young designers.
The Young Fashion Designer of the Czech Republic competition, supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports (MŠMT) and sponsors, has also expanded into other fields, such as hairdressing and cosmetics. Nevertheless, it remains primarily a platform where students of fashion and textile schools shine.
The Czech Association for Textile Care, along with the Secondary Art School Jihlava–Helenín, also organized the third edition of the event called TexTalk this year. This networking platform allows professionals from the textile industry to connect and discuss key topics such as sustainability. The next TexTalk will be held on April 15, 2025, at the traditional venue, the Laundry and Dry Cleaner Jihlava.
