Laundries Reached Over 2 Million People

The third edition of the European Laundry Open Day confirmed the growing public interest in the professional textile care sector. Laundries and dry cleaners across the Czech Republic took part in the event, which traditionally takes place in March in laundries throughout Europe – including facilities in Velké Pavlovice (Elis Textile Servis), Hodonín (Arbela), Valašské Meziříčí (Blankyt Plus), Svatava (OTS Laundry and Dry Cleaning) and Jihlava (Jihlava Laundry and Dry Cleaning).

This year, strong emphasis was placed on engaging the younger generation. Primary schools in particular visited the laundries, where pupils had the opportunity to try out specific tasks and experience the operations firsthand. “Students were able to try ironing on a mangle or folding hotel towels. The hands-on activities really captured their interest,” says Adéla Messiereur from Blankyt Plus. She also highlighted that such visits help break common myths about the industry, for example regarding its environmental impact. “We also explained what the consequences would be if these services did not exist,” she adds.

A similar experience was shared by the OTS laundry in Svatava. “The level of enthusiasm, especially among boys, was a very pleasant surprise. Some even showed interest in pursuing a future career in our field,” says owner Pavel Novotný. He adds: “Throughout the visit, they asked many insightful and relevant questions and left genuinely excited.” The greatest interest was sparked by industrial technologies, individual processes and the opportunity to observe the entire laundry processing cycle.

The program in Svatava was further enriched by a visit from Cesky rozhlas Radio, whose reporter was interested in current trends in the laundry sector, energy savings and workforce challenges. Employees of the facility also took part in interviews, offering a practical perspective on the day-to-day operation of a laundry.

The event also attracted significant media attention – reports and articles appeared on Prima CNN, Czech Television, Cesky rozhlas Radio and Deník, among others. The total media reach has already exceeded 2 million readers and viewers and continues to grow.
