The second edition of the European Laundry Open Day, which took place from March 24 to 28, 2025, provided another opportunity to showcase the importance of professional laundries and dry cleaning services to the general public. The event, initiated by the European Textile Services Association (ETSA), allowed not only media representatives but also students from secondary schools and vocational schools to gain insight into laundry operations.
This year, many members of the Czech Association for Textile Care participated, opening their facilities to present their technologies, processes, and daily operations. Journalists had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with modern practices in textile care, while students gained valuable information about career opportunities in this dynamic industry.
Participating companies included the laundries in Slavkov u Brna, Kralovice and Lanškroun from Elis Textil Servis, the Brno-based Chrištof laundry, Madlenka Laundry and Dry Cleaning in Kopřivnice, the supplier company CHRISTEYNS, Kyselý Laundry in Vlašim, BLANKYT PLUS laundry from Valašské Meziříčí, and the OTS Group laundry in Svatava.
Both regional and national media showed significant interest in the event. Representatives from Czech Television, Czech News Agency, Deník, MF Dnes, and Czech Radio visited the selected facilities, bringing reports and articles on the importance of professional textile care. Thanks to collaboration with the PR agency Lesenský, the event reached a broad audience and raised awareness about this important sector.
“We are pleased to see how this initiative is growing and how new countries are joining. This day not only allowed us to showcase the importance of professional textile care to the public, but also to reach out to young talents, who are key to the future of our industry. I am very happy that we were able to demonstrate how dynamic, innovative, and inclusive this sector is,” says Jana Puškáčová, President of the Czech Association for Textile Care, reflecting on the second edition.
The European Laundry Open Day (Laundry Day) made a successful debut last year, with the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, and the United Kingdom participating. This year, the initiative expanded to include Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. The main theme of this year’s edition was diversity and inclusion, focused on attracting talent from various backgrounds and presenting textile services as an open and inclusive work environment. The event aimed to address workforce shortages in the industry while reaching out to the general public and potential job seekers.
We would like to thank all the laundries, dry cleaning services, and supplier companies for their participation and support! We look forward to the next edition, which will again help demonstrate to the public the indispensable role that textile care plays in everyday life.
